Subject: Creating a report to count Ephemeral charges
The ephemeral (ghosty guy) wizard is what is used to charge items that don't have their own barcode. It works by doing a charge/discharge from
the patron barcode you wand. Nothing distinguishes these charges from regular charges so they are bundled into the monthy circ stats. To get unique stats
on them you need to follow these proceedures.
Use the shadowed bib record "Ephemeral charge", attach item barcodes to this
record using location EPHEMERAL and then with a combination of item type and cat1 you can use the patron's
regular card, giving circ stats to that user. Now you can craft a transaction statistics report limited to your library, location EPHEMERAL
and the output can be item type by cat1.
Here is how you create your report template:
- copy one of your monthly stats reports like "mo item/loc" using the duplicate button on the templates folder.
- Give it a new name, under the selection criteria tab add EPHEMERAL to the "item home location" by using the gadget.
- In the "command" field select only "Charge item Part B"
- Under the "Output options" tab click on the gadget next to Column and select "Item category 1", for the rows select Item type.
