Summer Reading program

Crook County Library Youth Services helps a broad range of children.  We have books and programs for children from toddlers all the way up to teens.

We have an excellent Outreach program throughout the community.   The Youth Services Librarian leaves the library and reads to the local daycare children, preschool children, Head Start children and elementary school students every week during the school year.

We have special events through out the school year including: holiday parties, craft days, Children's Book Week events, Teen Read Week events and National Library Week events.  We have a summer reading program that usually lasts for several weeks during the summer months.

For the children that visit us afterschool, we have a wide range of board games and puzzles to keep them entertained.  We also have a "video room" where they can watch movies of their choice.

We have three computers in the Adult Section available for children to do online research.  We also have a computer in the Children's Section for children of all ages to access the Internet, play educational games or do research.

The Teen Area has a wonderful selection of YA fiction, nonfiction and magazines.  There is a computer that has Internet access for the young adults and they can do school work as well.  The Teen Area also has a tv equipped with vcr and dvd players.  There are two sofas and a bean bag chair for the teens relaxation.  And the best part: the young adults may have drinks and snacks in the Teen Area.
